All Day Hands On Workshop
Pants For You! Personal FIT! and STYLING!

Measurements and visual keys are the foundation for creating a custom
pants pattern. Members of the class will receive a visual fit chart on which
Kathy will analyze and record the changes needed to create a custom fit.
She will demonstrate taking correct measurements as class members work
in pairs to complete their individual measurement charts. Using ½ scale
patterns, practice the fitting changes outlined in the personal analysis to
create your very own custom pant pattern. As the class progresses, learn
how to use a pattern block to restyle pant legs that follow current trends and
how to use the revolutionary new seam allowance curve ruler. Create the
only pant pattern you’ll need for years to come!

Kit Fee $25 Includes Seam Allowance Curve Ruler or Hip Curve Ruler, Tutorial and drafting pen

SUPPLY LIST: Bring to class pattern V-1003 or arrange in advance for Kathy to make you a copy of her master block pattern, a roll of pattern paper or tissue
paper, glue stick. magic transparent tape (green label). tape measure, paper scissors, small scissors or snips, straight pins, tape measure, and
pencil. Optional: fabric weights (for rotary cutting)

3 hr Hands-On Sleeve Workshop: Fit, Feel and Fashion  Sunday Sept. 25, 8:30am-11:30am Rm 9

Sleeves are one of the trickiest parts of our garments to get right, the
opposing circles need not only to fit together smoothly, they must to allow
our arms to move! Learn to evaluate your pattern, make changes to
accommodate your figure and finally, how to install a sleeve that really fits
and flatters. Start with a paper pattern of your choice and manipulate it under
Kathy’s direction. You’ll find the ease you need, adjust it for the fabric you’re
using and see how to install your sleeve without puckers.

SUPPLY LIST: Paper scissors, dressmaker shears, small scissors or snips, straight pins, tape measure, pencil, marking instrument (pen, pencil or chalk) and
seam ripper. Paper pattern of your choice, 1 yard of good quality muslin fabric , tissue paper, Scotch Tape (green label that you can write on with
pen or pencil), permanent marker pen. Optional: fabric weights (for rotary cutting) Hand sewing needle and thread.

Kit Info: Kit Fee: $25.00; includes • KIT FEE $25 Includes tutorial Seam allowance curve and 1 1/2 yds. of transparent elastic. Or tutorial plus drafting
pens and one package of transparent elastic.
• Advance Prep: Preferred Pattern Butterick 5627 or 5628 View B. Pattern needs to have one front pattern piece,one back pattern piece and one
sleeve piece. If you are working with a multi size pattern you MUST trace your size onto pattern paper on the cut lines so when you come to class
you will not be confused and infringe on the other students time. Trim the sleeve and front and back bodice pieces of your pattern on the cutting
lines before your come to class.

Kathy’s recent trip to NYC inspired this class, when she observed how great
women of all sizes and shapes looked in this type of outfit. A long shirt with a
yoke for better fit, Chiffon for the ultra-feminine look and skinny pants to
complete the so-slimming ensemble. Kathy shares her know-how and great
tips for making these three pieces. See fast ways to sew collars, how to add
yokes to make fitting easier, how to stabilize and cut chiffon with ease. Learn
about proper needles and threads, the best seams and hems and how to
make your skinny pants with stretch wovens or knits.

used to extend your creativity and ability to design unique statement pieces,
it can also take pounds off your visual appearance. Join Kathy as she shares
her techniques to cut, sew and construct wonderful garments using striped
fabrics in unusual and beautiful ways.
